Painting in Carencro

Carencro is just north of Lafayette on I-49, one of the shortest drives in our working range, and recent Census estimates have put it among the fastest-growing cities in Louisiana.

That growth means Carencro’s painting work splits two ways. New subdivisions bring the new-construction list: builder-grade finishes worth upgrading, settling cracks to repair properly, and first repaints that make a spec house feel owned. The town’s established older homes bring the opposite list: weathered siding and trim where the real job is preparation, washing, scraping, sanding and priming bare wood, before any color goes on.

We do both, with the prep handled as part of the job rather than quoted away: drywall patching, caulking, surface cleaning and minor wood repairs are listed scope on our interior and exterior work, not extras.

Worth knowing

Old house or new build: the prep list is different

  1. 01

On older siding, the paint job is mostly preparation

Peeling or chalking exterior paint on an older home can’t be fixed by painting over it. The new coating only lasts if the failed layers are washed, scraped and sanded back to a sound edge and bare wood is spot-primed: that sequence is the actual product you’re buying.

  2. 02

On new builds, wait out the first settling

A new home’s first hairline cracks at joints and corners are normal. Repainting after that first settling, with the cracks properly re-caulked and patched, gives a finish that stays closed instead of reopening along the same lines.

  3. 03

Bare wood never goes unprimed in this climate

South Louisiana moisture finds unprimed wood fast. Any spot scraped or repaired to bare wood needs primer before topcoat, or the new paint releases from exactly the spots that were fixed.
